No problem. All it takes to get the best light, exactly the angle you need to lose the Portaloos behind the tent, and any height you like up to about 20 feet is a Claas telehandler with a cage on the forks and an obliging driver.

I didn’t know those things could move sideways like a crab …

I just realised we haven’t had one of these for ages, so here’s a picture of Ann shooting the early stages of Tracey’s preparations in what we assume is the smallest bedroom they have at the Holiday Inn at Crick. We really get around, we do …

That thing in the purple circle there is my head, which is the only part of me that was visible for most of Alina and Adrian’s wedding. Once I’d explained to the priest how much the couple were hoping for some good ceremony shots, he practically ordered me up there to get the best viewpoint while Ann covered the back and the sides of the church, so for the first time ever I shot a wedding ceremony from the pulpit. Now if only the Anglican church could start thinking along the same lines …

Above is a quick wide shot I did during the recession to show Ann in place on the right, and below is her shot at more or less the same moment, which neatly illustrates just one of the advantages of having a two-photographer team covering your wedding!

So … here we have Ann outside f8 Studio in what we thought was downtown Dallas but is actually Addison, prior to our man Huy Nguyen giving the four Brits the guided tour early on Sunday 24th, our first full day in Texas.

Huy’s clients Christine and Robert turn up bearing gifts for their photographer. They got married on Feb 16th and they’re here to see their pictures for the first time!

Christine and Robert having left the studio, we all then retire to the nearby café where Amy decides that it’s time David has a cool new headshot for his website …

and I go for a cool antlers shot of Ann but in my haste get them slightly off-centre.

Finally, we discovered this sign, with which we were greatly impressed. We were even more impressed by the big Whole Foods Market in Dallas later that afternoon, but that was the end of our sightseeing, the rest of the day being taken up with getting to know the remaining participants and staff, and generally trying to make sure we were ready to rock at 9am Monday.

for the next few days we’re probably going to be way too busy to post on here. Normal service will resume soon enough though, and meanwhile if you get really bored, here’s seven and a bit minutes of a wedding in a garden in Palm Springs, California last September to be going on with.

All I’m saying is that I’ve now watched it three times and I’m still shaking my head in wonder …
